Zusammenfassung

In the following lecture, I want to introduce you to the central aspects of their life and work by first outlining the possible universal significance of testimony and a theology deeply rooted in a Central American context. Second, we take a look at the work of some of the assassinated and thus at the background of the assassinations by referring to the importance of the preferential option for the poor based on Vatican II and Medellín. On this basis, we can finally ask about their legacy.

Thomas Fornet-Ponse, Internationales Katholisches Missionswerk e.V.

Fornet-Ponse studierte katholische Theologie, Philosophie, alte Geschichte und Physik in Bonn und Jerusalem. Nach den Promotionen in Fundamentaltheologie und Ökumene sowie in Philosophie war er von 2013 bis 2016 Studiendekan des Theologischen Studienjahres Jerusalem und Inhaber des Laurentius-Klein-Lehrstuhls für Biblische und Ökumenische Theologie. Von 2016 bis 2022 War er Leiter der Bildungsabteilung von missio Aachen und habilitierte 2019 in Fundamentaltheologie in Salzburg. Seit Juni 2022 ist er Direktor des Missionswissenschaftlichen Instituts.
